Jaipur Jewelry

Meenakari is the most important style of Rajasthani jewelry and is incorporated with various other styles such as Kundan, Jadau and Thewa and temple jewelry. This particular art form was introduced to Rajasthan by Raja Mansingh of Amer. The jewelers and craftsmen of Rajasthan were taught by artisans from Lahore and this blend of ‘Jaipuri’ and ‘Lahori’ designs was called Meenakari. There is a lot of skill involved in the making of this kind of jewelry. It is a very technical process and requires a great deal of talent and dexterity. Meenakari or Enamelling is the art of painting, coloring and ornamenting the surface of metals by fusing over brilliant colours that are decorated in an intricate design.The period of the Mogul era had a great impact on jewelry designs & art of jewelry making in India. The Mogul emperor Shah Jahan invited the Persian artisans who made world famous enameled silver articles to train their master-craftsmen in the art of enameling. Meenakari is the art that is used to color the jewelry. The Jaipur Jewelry  made with Meenakari is so colorful and matches to almost every attire. Kundan is an art form that incorporates the beautiful stones in the jewelry. Royal and aristocratic families mostly wore Kundan jewelry. The gemstones are in abundance in Jaipur. The city is the major exporter of semi –precious and precious stones. Stunning jewelry is made using shimmering gold, and sterling silver that can steal any heart.
